Project Sketchwork
This section includes some of my best examples of sketchwork created in Affinity Designer, used in both the ideation and refinement of concepts, as well as the use of digital rendering skills to help visualise the product as it evolves.
Initial Concept Exploration
The example work below has been taken from a project designing a cordless power drill. The sketchwork brings the idea from thought to paper, roughly exploring different forms and evolving accordingly.
Rendered Concept Presentation
After brainstorming and developing some rough concepts, the best ideas are rendered to convey material choices meaning that project managers can best evaluate the concept in interim meetings. The examples below are concept boards presented in client meetings for an articulating gaming seat.
Concept Refinement
Before moving into CAD and Keyshot, it is key to take on board feedback from concept presentations and use it to help guide the project. This stage of sketchwork shows the evolution of detail of the product from concept to its final design, considering the design of individual parts and the manufacturing principles that constrain them. The following examples have been taken from a project designing a sustainable contemporary pedestal fan.
